The Rotary Showcase Conference, held at the Holywell Community Centre on Jan 31 2026, proved to be a resounding success, bringing together the Watford community for a day of connection, conversation and inspiration.
The event welcomed over 60 visitors, including the elected Mayor of Watford, alongside charity partners, community organisations, local residents and friends of Rotary. The strong turnout reflected growing interest in volunteering and community-led action across the town.
A welcoming space for community engagement
The Holywell Centre provided a spacious and comfortable setting, allowing visitors to move freely between displays, engage in informal discussions and attend short talks throughout the day.
The Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, praised the event and Rotary’s contribution to the town, saying:
“Events like this show the very best of Watford — people coming together to support their community, share ideas and make a real difference. Rotary plays an important role in bringing people and organisations together for good.”
Showcasing Rotary’s impact
The Showcase highlighted Rotary’s work across a range of areas, including youth competitions, environmental initiatives, community volunteering, international service and the global End Polio campaign. Interactive displays and conversations helped visitors understand how Rotary combines local action with global impact.
Strong partnerships and future involvement
Charity partners and community groups used the opportunity to connect, exchange ideas and explore future collaboration, reinforcing Rotary’s role as a connector within the local community.
The President of Watford Rotary, Ali Irteza reflected on the day’s success:
“We were delighted by the turnout and the quality of conversations throughout the day. The Showcase was about opening our doors, listening to the community and showing that Rotary is welcoming, flexible and driven by local impact.”
Many visitors commented on the friendly atmosphere and accessibility of Rotary’s work, with several expressing interest in volunteering, partnerships and future events.
Looking ahead
Watford Rotary would like to thank the Mayor, all attendees, charity partners and volunteers who helped make the Showcase such a success. The connections made during the event will help shape future projects and strengthen Rotary’s ongoing work across Watford.
