Don’t Bin It – Let Rotary Recycle It!

Watford Rotary is helping our community reduce waste, protect the environment, and support good causes—all through the simple act of recycling.

If you have unused or unwanted items at home, don’t throw them away. Let us recycle them responsibly or repurpose them for those in need.

Why It Matters

Every year, countless items that could be reused, recycled, or donated end up in landfill. Rotary’s Recycling Initiative gives your old items a new purpose—whether that’s raising funds for local projects, helping families in need, or protecting the environment.

What We Collect

We accept a wide range of items, including:

  • Used mobile phones and tablets

  • Old eyeglasses/spectacles

  • Books and magazines

  • Small electronics (working or not)

  • Tools and hand equipment

  • Used stamps and coins

  • Clean school uniforms and coats

  • Unwanted but usable household goods (case-by-case)

Don’t see your item here? Get in touch and ask—we may still be able to use or direct it.

Recycle Event 2025

On Sunday, June 8, 2025, as part of Watford’s Big Green Week, the Rotary Club of Watford hosted a highly impactful recycling stall and community giveaway. Organised at the town’s Green Festival on the High Street, the event was a practical example of how local action can drive meaningful environmental change.

♻ A Powerful Local Impact
According to the Watford Observer, the Rotary's initiative succeeded in redistributing more than 1,200 household items, all of which were donated by local residents and given away for free. The aim? To reduce waste, cut landfill, and promote the reuse of perfectly good items within the community.

This grassroots initiative gave second life to everything from books and homewares to toys and tools—turning potential waste into valued resources.
“It’s fantastic how much good stuff finds a second life,” said one volunteer on the day.

💡 Circular Economy in Action
Beyond its feel-good factor, the stall demonstrated how circular economy principles can be applied in everyday community life. By encouraging reuse and responsible disposal, the project echoed the broader message of Watford’s Big Green Week: that sustainability starts at home—and it starts now.
