A Taste of Indonesia in Celebration of 50 Wonderful Years

Watford Rotary members were recently treated to an unforgettable afternoon of authentic Indonesian cuisine, thanks to the generosity of long-standing members Actar and Art. The lunch, held on 27th July at their home in Tudor Manor Gardens, marked a joyful celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary — a milestone they chose to share in true Rotary spirit: with warmth, community, and giving.

What made the celebration particularly special was its purpose. Although the event was free to attend, guests were invited to make a donation to Watford Rotary — with all proceeds supporting the club’s local and international projects.

Food, Fellowship, and Generosity

Guests arrived to a colourful array of home-cooked Indonesian dishes, lovingly prepared by Art himself. From fragrant curries to traditional rice and vegetable sides, the meal was both a cultural experience and a culinary delight. The hospitality, atmosphere, and shared stories made for a memorable afternoon that blended tradition with heartfelt community connection.

Actar and Art’s decision to turn a personal celebration into a charitable gathering reflects the values that Rotary holds dear: service above self, and fellowship that goes beyond meetings and formalities.

As the couple marked five decades of marriage, they also reaffirmed their commitment to causes they care about. Their gesture was warmly appreciated by everyone who attended and by the wider club.
